Australian wine writer James Halliday has included 8 of our wines in his annual Wine Companion 2015 edition. All 8 wines were 90 points or over and the Florita 2013 was awarded an amazing 97 points. You can read the full reviews below.

2013 The Florita Riesling

“Very pale straw-green; as precise a rendition of Clare Valley riesling as one could wish for, coming from one of the most historic vineyards in the region; perfectly articulated lime/lemon citrus flavours lead, with green apple in the background, the parcel wrapped up with perfect acidity.”

2004 The Florita Riesling

“Bright, light green-gold; the wine is paying no heed whatsoever to the passage of 10 years – just 3 or 4 years at the most; it has perfect slate/mineral structured tied to acidity, the fruit traversing citrus and picking up a touch of apple. Ultimate elegance.”

Drink: 2020 | 96 Points

2012 The Lodge Hill Shiraz

“Vivid purple-crimson; a totally delicious wine with a spring in its step more frequently encountered in cool climate shiraz; its fruit flavours span blood plum, red cherry and mulberry, these complexed by spice and garden herbs, the tannins fine and supple. Great value.”

Drink: 2027 | 95 Points

2011 The McRae Wood Shiraz

“Full, deep purple-crimson; a quality vineyard, correct picking date decision(s) and good winemaking have resulted in a very good medium-bodied shiraz with attractive, if unusual, clove spice and pepper nuances to the black fruits and fine tannins. A vintage get out of jail free card.”

Drink: 2021 | 94 Points

2012 The Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon

“With vineyards in Coonawarra as well as its Clare Valley home turf, a blend makes a great deal of sense. The colour is excellent, and the medium-bodied palate has an effortless display of cassis, redcurrant and plum fruit, oak integrated, the tannins fine and ripe.”

Drink 2022 | 92 Points

2013 Watervale Riesling

“Quartz-green; has much more flavour than many -13s; there is more to the bouquet, and even more to the palate, with ripe citrus fruit talking loud and clear, and the barest hint of sweetness on the finish. No need for lengthy cellaring.”

Drink: 2016 | 91 Points

2012 The Barry Brothers Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon

“A somewhat garish retro label for this 70/30% blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon, but there is a wealth of juicy and rich blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, cosseted by warm vanillan oak.”

Drink: 2018 | 91 Points

2013 The Lodge Hill Riesling

“The 480m Lodge Hill Vineyard is one of the highest in the Clare Valley. Still quartz-white in Aug -13, it is yet to emerge from its embryonic state, but has balance, and will do so with a few more years.”

Drink: 2020 | 90 Points
