Clare Valley

2016 Single Vineyard Eastern Ranges Cabernet Malbec

"Over the past 56 years our family has developed and nurtured a mosaic of vineyards, each unique in site, soil and aspect. Distinct parcels of fruit are selected to make wines that reflect the vineyard from which the grapes are grown.

The Single Vineyard Eastern Ranges Cabernet Malbec comes from 1997 planted Cabernet Sauvignon and 1998 planted Malbec at our Lodge Hill Property on the Eastern Ranges of the Clare Valley. This is a nod to the wines Jim Barry was making in the 60’s and 70’s where Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec were often blended."

This wine is a deep red with a crimson hue. Lifted aromas of blue fruits combined with hints of mint and tobacco. A very structural wine offering flavours of bright blueberry and mulberry fruits with black olive savoury notes. Fresh cherry and plum characters are provided by the addition of Malbec in this superb blend. This is a wine of great length, with well integrated savoury tannins.
