Named after the settlement now knows as a ‘lost’ township, Benbournie was situated between the towns of Clare and Blyth. The Benbournie is from a single vineyard on our McRae Wood property, planted by Jim Barry in 1964.
First released in 2002, this deep crimson and intensely aromatic wine is flooded with generous dark berry flavours and complemented by very fine, mineralic tannins that add great length and style.
Jim Barry The Benbournie Cabernet Sauvignon is based on 1964 plantings of direct-producing (franc de pied) vines, sourced originally from Wendouree Cellar’s 1896-established cabernet sauvignon vineyard.
