Thanks to Grapelive for a fantastic article on our 2013 'The Armagh' Shiraz

"The beautiful Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz is really showing well at the moment with impressive restraint and layering, while still having a seriously dense (rich) and powerful presence in the glass with an inky purple/black and crimson hue and a dark berry coulis and spice laced full bodied palate, it is a wine to be taken seriously and enjoyed for another decade or more. A long, deeply valued and occasionally dangerous friendship between the Mosel's Ernst Loosen and the Barry Family of Clare has delivered a collaboration unlike anything seen before.

A fantastic review by Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

"Clare Riesling made by Ernie Loosen from Lodge Hill grapes, and there's a Mosel made by Tom and Sam Barry from grapes grown in Erdener Treppchen. Strangers on a train. Criss-cross. This uses a 2,800-litre German oak 'Fuder' cask and sat on gross ferment lees for 12 months at 10 degrees before spending a further 11 months in a stainless steel on fine lees.

Wonderful texture and a high level of complexity. Ripe lime, green mango, white nectarine and spice, gently smoky with a savoury cheese slice character. It's kind of juicy, but stony and earthy too, fine crushed rock feel, a zing of green apple sorbet, sour yoghurt, and a very long crunchy finish. Weight delivered with finesse. Very interesting (said with a German accent)".

"Jim Barry Wines are well-known to wine lovers, but Jim Barry the man was a quiet achiever, widely known and respected in the wine industry although he never really had a public profile".
